KSC Space Shuttle Status Report January 5, 2000

VEHICLE: Discovery /OV-103
LOCATION: OPF bay 1

Work in progress: Since yesterday, workers have been setting up access platforms inside Discovery's aft compartment. On Friday, technicians begin preparations to remove the orbiter's main engines. Engine removal operations should conclude late next week. The six gyroscopes that were extracted from the Hubble Space Telescope during STS-103 will be removed from Discovery's payload bay on Monday. Preparations are in work to open Discovery's payload bay doors this week.
