It was a DF-224 with a Intel-based 80386 co-processor (added in
the first servicing mission) that was replaced with the
Intel-based 80486. The DF-224 was the main processor. This
processor was designed in the late 1970s. It would be better to
say that the DF-224/Intel-based 80386 combination was replaced
with an Intel-based 80486.
To be more accurate, it was the computer that was replaced not the processor.
The new computer consists of an Intel-based 80486 processor
and six times the memory of the old computer.
