I am trying to get more sepcific information on the new 486DX2 computer
board that is being used on the Hubble presently. Who manufactured
this computer? Was it engineered in-house or procurred from an outside
vendor? Can anybody tell me the specifics of the board and what memory is
used?
The reason for my curiousity is my company manufacures electronics for
space flight and we do manufacture a 486DX2 single board computer that
we have provided to numerous space related agencies over the last couple
years and it would be interesting to find out if one of our boards
might have made it in a round about way to the Hubble.
Just for additional information, I was reading in some of the discussions about
the Sandia project for the Radiation Hardened Pentium board for space
and it perked my interest as we, Space Electronics Inc, are the company
that was granted the contract from Sandia to design and produce this
