- Actually, Tim, it was a case of us whining to the Europeans! They did US a favor that we begged for--delaying their embargo on non-SI units in quantity indications.

> I very much agree that NASA is a fantastic resource; but "the best education possible" does not mean censorship, it means teaching kids as much as possible. It means giving them all (not some) of the tools they need to be successful. Oh, and by the way, you CAN still learn how to plow in schools Without it, you wouldn't be eating most of the food you are today! I guess you're censored education didn't allow you to know that.

- I don't know what this 'censorship' bug is that's infesting your thoughts. I just want kids to be taught the materials and skills they need to succeed today and in the future. That means that they should be able to think and work in modern metric units.
-
- If you wish to have your kids learn all about the non-SI units you're accustomed to--fine. I don't see much need in the future for grains, drams, minims, pecks, and furlongs, though. And those ARE legal units in the collection of non-metric units now in use in the US.
-
- Good luck converting among all of them! But I guess you have them down pat since they're so essential to you. So....how many minims in a gill? Pints in a peck? Inches in a furlong? In the eigth grade I actually had to memorize all those conversions! Are your kids doing that? Yucchhh!
-
- As for Lenin, I'll take your word for it; perhaps you've read up on him more than I have. I have no idea why else you brought him into this.
-
> It's a free world, please don't force you're censorship on my kids.
-
- Have a good day, Tim. Thank you for expressing your feelings about this issue. I mean that quite sincerely.
